I’ve been cleaned through the mounds of clothes in my closet – hate to admit it, but I have clothes in there from the middle school eeekk!! I pulled a cool graphic print tee outta the closet & decided to change it up a bit! Here’s how:
First, with scissors, cut the neck trim off all of the way around – this gives it a more rustic look instead of the classic crew neckline! Then, cut the back of the neck off to match the V-neck look of the front. (Chalk can be used to “trace” the neckline if you don’t feel comfortable cutting just freehand)
Using scissors & plain paper, cut a diamond shape out of the paper (size varies depending on the length of the shirt – the longer the shirt, the bigger the diamond size) and tape it to the lower/middle back of the tee! Then make starting points (north, south, east, west) to be used as guidelines to keep the slices even!
Then, starting from the outer part of the shirt inward [toward the diamond paper shape using it as a stopping point]. Do this until there are approx. 1″ cuts all the way around, forming a diamond shape of solid material in the middle of the back. Once all the cuts are made, remove the paper & tape!! Super Simple!!
Also, a brightly colored tank or cami will really pop through the slits of material!! Happy cutting! 🙂
When I felt the first raindrop this year, I began lusting after a pair of new rainboots!! Initially, the Hunter™ rain boots caught my eye – the soft feel, cushy insoles, & oh the shiny rainbow assortment of colors!! But, while shopping online for them, I spotted these croc-print, Rolls Royce of Hunter’s:
I also noticed a few celeb’s like Ashley Olsen & Rachel Bilson sporting them!
The more I tried to convince myself to purchase an ol’ ordinary, and by ordinary I mean CHEAP pair of rain boots, the more I lusted after the $425 Jimmy Choo’s! But, since I have a champagne taste on a beer budget, I thought I’d better keep dreaming. Until….I stumbled on a mini-miracle!
While strolling through the mall a few weeks later, I spotted the similar black croc print kicks (minus the price tag!) (at Old Navy for only $35!! I couldn’t wait to test them out!! I made my purchase in-store a few months ago (the black is no longer available online but the gray still is!) Needless to say, I’m enjoying the Louisville showers!
I’ve been wanting to try this Asparagus Gruyere Tart recipe ever since I seen it, so this weekend I gathered up the ingredients and gave it a whirl!! I’m very pleased how it turned out! Although it looked SO delicious on-line, let’s face it…looks can be deceiving, especially when you’re not exactly a professional chef! They always make everything look so easy!! But, this recipe was actually a cinch–super simple, cheap, & quick!! If you really wanna jazz it up a bit, diced chicken breast, chopped bacon pieces, thin sliced tomato, and/or a bit of minced garlic can be added on top for a little smidgen of flavor! Also, if you’re a fan of food dipping, hummus or something similar may be a great side addition! I do, however, recommend watching the video posted on the link before starting – it has great tips!
Just as summer was coming to an end, I began pondering the idea of a new do’! ‘ve had the same hair style for years so I decided a new look was probably looong over-due!! When I finally got the courage to chop my locks, I went to Tiffany at Wild Flower Salon! She has done my hair as long as I can remember! Even though I was extremely nervous (partially due to
some many horrendous cuts as a child!), I’m so glad I took the risk because it turned out great! The exact subtle change I was looking for! It’s been a little while since I had i cut, but I still wanted to share! 🙂
I have to share one of my favorite diners out in the middle of nowhere!! A little gem found in Taylorsville, KY, this place is nothing short of superb!
Lynda’s Grill serves daily lunch specials (ALL HOMEMADE!!) five days a week, as well as an array of diner favorites, from the FAMOUS 1/2 lb. “Boss Cheeseburger” to the mini sliders with a side of fries! I am particularly proud of this little gem, because my mom has been the sole owner for a whopping 20 years!! So, if you ever get the chance, you definitely have to make a pit stop here! I promise, you won’t be disappointed!! 🙂
If you’re anything like me, you will hoard everything, thinking it will eventually come in handy! Over the past few years, I’ve become a wine connoisseur. While the bottles are attractively displayed on the top of my kitchen cabinet, I wasn’t sure what to do with the wine corks.
I did a little research & found these great (and INEXPENSIVE) ideas! With simple materials such as a styrofoam ball (coated with brown primer/paint), spare wood scraps, old photo frames, clock center, etc. these projects can be done in a few hours and are very inexpensive! They look so urban-chic & retro, not to mention they’re “green”!! Check them out here!
There are a few books (oldies, but goodies!) that have recently inspired me to make some changes & entertain me along the way! Nothing like a feel-good book!
1- Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang – by Chelsea Handler
From page one, it’s a laugh to the very end, and pure good entertainment! I love her show on the E! Network and this book only makes me love her more! She is hilarious when she tells stories from her childhood, especially because some of them are SO relatable!! She is vulgar, but nothing short of entertaining!! Love it!! I will be purchasing her second book very soon…can’t believe I haven’t yet!
2 – Skinny Bitch – by Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin
This is my go-to health and diet book. The title explains it all – how to become a Skinny Bitch… It’s a “tough love” guide to stop eating crap & to start looking fab!!
3 – The Secret – by Rhonda Byrne
The third book I am currently reading is a life book. Basically it describes the “Law of Attraction” and helps you make your dreams a reality, simply by using your own perspective & reaching your goals with your mind! Great reccomedation from years ago & glad I took the suggestion!
